What a thriller this was. England survived a relentless siege at Estadio Azteca and won 3-2 against Mexico to book their spot in the quarter-finals. Tuchel's side, who finished with ten men, had their hands full against a Tri that battled right to the final whistle with the Azteca absolutely rocking.

The match. Mexico dominated and pressed hard, but England struck with two stunning finishes from Jude Bellingham (36' and 38'). Quiñones pulled one back immediately (42') and set the Azteca ablaze. After the break, a red card for Quansah left England down to ten; Kane extended the lead from the penalty spot and Raúl Jiménez responded in kind from twelve yards for 3-2. The Tri piled forward chasing extra time, but England's rearguard held firm.

Tri say goodbye at their fortress. Mexico bow out at the Azteca, where they'd never lost a World Cup match before, after a brilliant tournament and boasting one of the best defences in the competition. Quiñones bagged his fourth goal of the campaign. Heads held high.
