What's up, folks? Today we're tackling one of the most talked-about contracts in world football: how much does Kylian Mbappé earn at Real Madrid? He arrived for free in 2024 from PSG, and that's precisely why his contract is so special. Fair warning: Madrid doesn't publish salaries, so I'm telling you what the press has reported and who's saying it.
According to Mundo Deportivo when the transfer was closed, his fixed salary was around 26 million gross, around 14-15 net, with bonuses that could take him to 20. At PSG he earned 72 million gross. And according to Ámbito, in the 2025-26 season his gross salary was already around 31.25 million.
Since he arrived as a free agent, Madrid didn't pay a transfer fee, and that money became a signing bonus for the player. According to ESPN, reported by Forbes, it was 164 million dollars spread over five years (around 32 per year); the Spanish press put it between 100 and 150 million euros. Adding salary and bonus, his club income easily exceeds 40-50 million per season.
Madrid usually splits image rights 50-50 with its stars. Mbappé managed to keep 100% of the contracts he already had and 80% of the new ones. And that's where the bulk of his fortune comes from: according to Forbes, in the twelve months before his arrival he earned 110 million dollars, making him the sixth highest-paid athlete in the world.
With his current 31 million gross salary, not counting bonus or image rights, that's around 2.6 million gross per month and around 85,000 euros gross per day. And that's just what the club pays him for playing.
France fell in the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup precisely against Spain, who then won the final against Argentina. Some things can't be bought. If you want to see what our lads earned for the second star, you've got it in the 2026 World Cup bonuses.
The club does not publish this information. When he arrived in 2024, figures of around 26 million euros gross (14-15 net) were reported, and in 2026 there is talk of around 31 million euros gross, plus a signing bonus of 100-150 million euros spread over five years.
Until 2029: he signed for five seasons after arriving for free from PSG in 2024.
According to Spanish media, he retains 100% of the image contracts he already had and keeps 80% of new ones; Madrid usually keeps half.
