Las Palmas snapped a six-matchday winless run in LaLiga Hypermotion by beating Real Sociedad B 1-0, who arrived in absolute freefall with six consecutive defeats. An early goal from Jesé, who had already made it clear he'd be running the show, gave the Canaries some breathing room against opponents languishing in the relegation zone who looked toothless. The match had a significant off-field detail: UD Las Palmas wore a dark and pink kit in commemoration of International Breast Cancer Day. Attendance was sparse, with just over twelve thousand spectators at Estadio de Gran Canaria, representing 39.7 percent capacity. The goal came almost immediately: a gallop down the right from Pezzolesi, a low cross into the box that Rupérez failed to clear decisively, left Jesé with the ball at his feet, and he smashed a right-footer past debutant Olasagasti at the far post. After that came constant suffering for the yellows, who never got a grip on the game. Sergio Viera sent the ball into the post with a cracking shot from outside the area in the 16th minute, though Dani Díaz had already warned with a left-footed effort that hit the crossbar in the 22nd. Carrera also struck the post from a Gorosabel move, but Caro blocked his point-blank shot with a crucial save. Juan Manuel Rodríguez spotted the danger Dani Díaz posed down the right and didn't wait for halftime to swap out Italian Bonfanti. His replacement, Andrés Rodríguez, moved to right-back to pair with Pezzolesi, far quicker than Bonfanti, against Díaz. Halfway through the first half, Aguirre had a goal ruled out for a clear offside, and before the break Olasagasti kept his side in it with several impressive saves. In the second half, Jon Ansotegi made two changes and Real Sociedad B kept probing dangerously, but Juan Manuel Rodríguez responded with a triple substitution to energise a faltering home side. Las Palmas couldn't quite finish it off despite the visitors' defensive fragility—Pezzolesi, the pick of the bunch, sent another ball into the post—but they didn't face too much trouble in the closing stages to bag a win at Gran Canaria over two months later. The victory was deserved if uninspiring, one of those results that calms plenty of nerves during a tricky season for the Canaries, and although it won few hearts for the football on display, it at least gave a bit of oxygen back to supporters who were beginning to suffocate.
