📝 Match report

An Eibar side completely nullified for much of the match caved in at the death at Ipurúa thanks to two penalties, when Mallorca looked set to pocket all three points. An error by Álvaro Rodríguez in the 52nd minute allowed the ball to reach Adri Fuentes at the back post, who showed no mercy to a helpless Magunagoitia. Up until that point, Mallorca had been markedly superior, hitting the woodwork on three occasions while Eibar had failed to get a shot on target. It looked like game over. An Arbilla header in the 70th minute that rattled the crossbar brought the fear back to the Mallorca side. But it came to nothing: the home team still couldn't find the net. Then, in the 81st minute, the script flipped. John Chetauya committed a reckless foul inside the box on Iván Gil and, already on a yellow, saw red in a flash. The Gunners had life. Golden opportunity. Javier Martón stepped up from the spot in the 83rd minute, but Arnau Tenas read it like a book with a crucial save. The drama seemed complete. But football hadn't finished writing the story. Just when Mallorca were savouring victory with a man advantage, a fresh infraction by Guille Fernández in the 94th minute gave them a second penalty. This time Iván Gil took charge and executed with ice in his veins what had looked impossible just minutes before. A draw that tastes bitter for the visitors after watching the win slip through their fingers. For Eibar, a point salvaged in injury time that smells like a victory. Those are the ones that change seasons.
