📝 Match report

Eldense brought Real Valladolid back down to earth in matchday 10 of LaLiga Hypermotion, with a double comeback and winning through patience and sharper play (2-3). The match took place at Estadio José Zorrilla in front of 17,512 spectators, where the blanquivioletas had arrived after a five-goal demolition of Albacete the week before — but the Alicante side, who came in with back-to-back wins, showed that confidence counts for nothing when your opponent plays with hunger and tactical nous. Arnu headed in comfortably in the 23rd minute after a measured ball from Ponceau, with the hosts controlling the game without real bite despite their possession. Rastrojo equalised on 41 following a Javi Martínez run, but the worst for the Valladolid lads came almost immediately after the restart: a long clearance from the visiting keeper found Olabarrieta, who breezed past the defence and Álvaro Aceves in a single move, flipping the scoreline seconds before half-time. Football is often cruel, and it seemed to be proving the point when Víctor Júnior's red card for a second yellow in the 71st didn't stop Valladolid, who levelled in the 82nd with a Barberá header from a corner. Just when everyone thought they'd nicked a point, when the Zorrilla could finally breathe easy, Mariano Carmona buried Olabarrieta's cutback in the 94th to seal a third straight win. Olabarrieta, on loan from Athletic, had gone from twenty consecutive appearances on the bench at Andorra to deciding a match at Zorrilla, and that pretty much said it all: sometimes victory doesn't belong to whoever bosses the ball, but to whoever knows how to wait and strike at exactly the right moment. Real Valladolid would learn that lesson.
