📝 Match report

Mallorca secured their fourth victory of the current LaLiga Hypermotion season with a 0-1 win at Zubieta against Real Sociedad B thanks to a solitary goal from Adrián Fuentes in the 81st minute. The red and blacks clinched their first away win of the league campaign, after defeats in Granada and a goalless draw in Elda. A victory that, on paper, smells like nothing special, but in the context of the match tastes like what it was: a lifeline for a team that their rivals won't leave alone in this category. Mallorca are provisionally joint leaders of LaLiga Hypermotion alongside Castellón, and will remain so if they don't slip up on their next outing.

The match was marked by the hosts' dominance in the first half but despite that they failed to go ahead. Mallorca were the first to threaten the opposition area with two chances from Álex Sala that flew wide, with a header from the centre of the box that brushed the right post, while the second was a shot from distance that sailed well over the bar. After those early advances, the reds and blacks vanished off the map. Mallorca made the most of their only real chance of the entire game to win it in a second half where nobody was creating danger. Because here's the match summary: Real Sociedad B had the ball for a stroll, Mallorca spent more than an hour locked in their own half, and when nobody expected a thing, Fuentes appeared.

Buksa's introduction proved decisive in giving Adrián Fuentes more space, and the centre forward drifted into the box past two defenders and with the goalkeeper's help, he bagged the only goal of the match. Adri Fuentes keeps showing his quality with his fourth goal in 6 games. At Zubieta, Mallorca didn't need to play proper football: surviving and capitalising on one moment of a different player was more than enough. You have to face facts: this team wins more than they play, but for now it's working. A 0-1 at the Zubieta in San Sebastián, away from home, tastes like Mallorcan glory. Next week Almería arrive at Son Moix, and there we'll see if this victory helps Mallorca start playing better or if they'll keep getting out of jail on a knife-edge.
