El Burgos CF won away at UD Las Palmas with a goal from David González in added time, coming from behind in the second half after the yellow shirts had built an advantage by half-time through a Jesé Rodríguez strike. In reality, what happened at Estadio de Gran Canaria was the complete opposite of what the scoreline suggested: a masterclass in how to throw away a match that looked like yours for the taking. Kirian Rodríguez received a commemorative shirt for his 200 official appearances with the island club, while teammate Taisei Miyashiro picked up the trophy for best player of August in the competition. It wasn't the recognition that was missing in Gran Canaria, but the clinical finishing of a side that controlled the match with one hand tied behind their back. The islanders dominated the first half largely thanks to suffocating pressure in the opposition half, which allowed them to win the ball regularly and create genuine danger up front, taking the lead in the process. Yellow striker Jesé scored in the 37th minute with a tight shot to the left post, slightly deflected by a defender, assisted by Manu Fuster. Poetic justice, really: Las Palmas hadn't scored against Burgos in six meetings, with the last three ending in stalemates. The 1-0 at half-time faithfully reflected what had been seen in the opening 45 minutes, where yellow dominance was overwhelming. But that's where the wheels fell off. Burgos came out after the break with two fresh faces: José Gragera replacing Marcelo Expósito and Álex Forés in for Curro Sánchez. Twelve minutes later, in the 57th, Forés latched onto a through ball behind the defence, won the race against the offside trap and cut the ball back for José Antonio Caro. The leveller arrived after a yellow defensive line that seemed to be having an off day. UD Las Palmas fell asleep and let Burgos claw back following a Juanma Herzog lapse and a welcome mat of defending. That's when the collapse began. Las Palmas piled on the changes, corners and complaints, but never quite found the rhythm of that first-half cruise control. In the fourth minute of added time, David González received a pass from Javi Llabrés, got in behind the yellow defence and beat the keeper with a measured finish to make it 1-2. The Castilian side left the island with all three points, their second consecutive win and first away victory of the season. As Rubén de la Barrera himself said afterwards: leaving yourself exposed is bad business for anyone. Las Palmas learned that the hard way.
