📝 Match report

On matchday eight of a LaLiga Hypermotion that keeps serving up surprises, Castellón let slip their unbeaten leadership at Castalia after a draw that tastes more bitter the more you look at it. The La Plana side went ahead almost before they'd had time to break a sweat, thanks to a quick counterattack that Israel Suero finished off with his left foot on two minutes, but shoddy defending and passivity after the break allowed a Ceuta side weakened by international absences to level things up in the 53rd minute. It wasn't a robbery: the Andalusian team, led by an imperious Jordi Escobar, prowled around the win on several occasions and, had they been sharper with their final pass, would've headed back to Ceuta with something more than a golden point. The crossbar saved Matthys in the second half when it looked like Ceuta's shadow had already grown far too long. Castalia also had a special day of solidarity: both sets of supporters shared the stands with messages and flags of support for the people of Ceuta, turning the pitch into a corner where football was almost beside the point. Castellón handed the leadership to Eibar and Romero will keep watching his team grow, against all odds, up the table; for the Asturians it was a morning where invincibility counted for less than any point scraped together in the final stretch of the game.
