📝 Match report

Valentín Pezzolesi hadn't even had time to shake the mud off his boots when Valladolid had already regrouped and flipped the scoreline on its head, because at the Estadio de Gran Canaria what was in abundance were defensive howlers and the rushed play of a team whose results crisis had been eating away at their nerves since the warm-up. Five minutes were enough to see Las Palmas with their heads somewhere else entirely: the academy lad opened the scoring with a header taking advantage of goalkeeper Bonfanti's passivity and everything was looking yellow. At ten minutes Latasa arrived down the left exploiting a rebound in the box, and at twenty-six Ponceau put a one-on-one chance away after a catastrophic loss by Kirian Rodríguez in midfield. Valladolid came out after the break with the advantage and Las Palmas needed that miracle only the academy could deliver. It arrived in the 53rd minute courtesy of Elías Romero following a brilliant move by Jesé that put them all in a tight spot: a clinical finish that brought hope flooding back to Gran Canaria, even though the afternoon ended with the bitter taste of having let victory slip through their fingers in the final minutes. The draw felt like a defeat in the Canaries because against a side without an away win, UD needed to win, but at least the academy rescued a point from a performance that was more uncomfortable than anything else.
