📝 Match report

Eldense staged a remarkable comeback against Real Oviedo with a 4-1 thrashing on matchday 8 of LaLiga Hypermotion, with Oviedo striking at Nuevo Pepico Amat just twenty seconds after kick-off through Alberto Reina's goal, capitalizing on some dodgy Eldense defending. The result, moreover, took on special significance: Eldense had officially celebrated Leo Messi's arrival as the club's new owner this week, and this victory marked their first home win of the campaign at Nuevo Pepico Amat. It was a match of conflicting needs. Eldense desperately needed to end their home drought, while Oviedo arrived full of confidence after winning the Asturian derby, but the visitors came up against a side that, once they'd shaken off that early sucker punch, showed real character. Goals from Roberto López, Fidel Chaves, Olabarrieta and Rastrojo in the second half completely turned the scoreline on its head. Roberto López opened the floodgates with a penalty on 56 minutes that levelled the tie, and Fidel Chaves extended it around the half-hour mark of the second period, again from the spot, putting Eldense ahead. But the real killer blow for Oviedo came in stoppage time. Olabarrieta and Rastrojo sealed it in the added time to wrap up Javier Calleja's first win in the blue-and-red dugout. The Asturian side dropped out of the playoff places while the Alicante outfit finally banished their home curse on a day when even the arrival of their new owner seemed determined to help things change at the Pepico Amat. Congratulations Messi, you're making quite an entrance with a win.
