Two sides in need of their first win after both suffered defeats in their respective opening matches were facing off. The home side came out fighting: in the 3rd minute, Corpas crossed from the left flank forcing goalkeeper Aitor Fraga to get down, though it would be the Basque visitors who proved more clinical. Real Sociedad B were sharper just five minutes later when Mariezkurrena, heading in from a corner, put the visitors ahead.
Half-time arrived with Albacete trailing 0-2 after a goal that Gorosabel would celebrate in memory of Ión Gómez. The home side's reaction was immediate after the restart: San Bartolomé had a gilt-edged chance three minutes into the second half that Aitor Fraga kept out with a brilliant save. However, Dani Bernabéu pulled one back to make it 1-2 in the 80th minute, though it would not be enough to prevent Alba's first home defeat.
