Córdoba made their Hypermotion debut with a win against Girona at El Arcángel. After the shock defeat on opening day in Burgos, where Iván Ania's side went down in added time, the white-and-green outfit were desperate to bounce back. They delivered. Córdoba beat Girona (2-1) to secure their first victory of the season, while the Catalan side—who reacted too late once again—remain searching for their first win.

The Córdoba lads found their rhythm early against a freshly relegated LaLiga EA Sports side that came out looking to dominate but barely troubled Iker Álvarez. In the 11th minute, after winning the ball in their own half, Córdoba launched a slick, rapid counterattack. Diego Bri raced down the flank and sent over a perfectly measured cross to the heart of the box for Víctor Sánchez to thunder home an immaculate header by the far post. It was barely Sánchez's first goal in white-and-green. The script repeated itself whenever Córdoba pushed play down the right flank, until in the 37th Carracedo—two assists in two matchdays—threaded a ball through the defence that Diego Bri converted after a rebound. Two goals before the break made it look game over. It wasn't.

Víctor Sánchez asked for a change in the 51st due to muscle discomfort and made way for Percan, who had at least three clear-cut chances to seal the deal but couldn't get past Gazzaniga. That wastefulness would come back to haunt them. In the 85th minute, Asprilla burst down the right wing and fired a shot off the far post to pull Girona back into it. A goal that threw everything wide open with barely fifteen minutes left, but Córdoba held firm. It wasn't their prettiest display, but they knew how to protect what mattered. First win. First bit of breathing room. The road is long, but it starts here.
