Eldense claimed their first point in LaLiga Hypermotion 2026/27 after drawing 2-2 with Cádiz at Nuevo Pepico Amat, in a second matchday that left the Elda side with precious little to show for their efforts.

The clash was marked by tit-for-tat action, defensive lapses and a magnificent Olympic goal from local boy Guille Macho, all in the second half. The match started without a clear master, but as the minutes ticked by it was Eldense who began to trouble the Cádiz area with a volley from Justin Smith and a chance for Mariano Carmona that Ukwuije blocked superbly between the sticks, before in the closing stages of the first half Fidel and Clemente forced visiting keeper Jokin Ezkieta to make assured interventions.

Despite the blue-and-white dominance, the game reached the break goalless. The second half arrived like a pressure cooker about to burst. Right from the off, Ramón Vila had to be at his best against a shot from Cádiz's De la Rosa, though an Ujwuije howler allowed Mariano Carmona to put Eldense ahead in the 47th minute. Cádiz needed just eight minutes to hit back: after two dangerous efforts from Izeta and De la Rosa that ran into Ramón Vila, a well-placed finish from Ibon Sánchez found the net in the 54th minute. Eldense weren't throwing in the towel. With the game wide open, Guille Macho rifled in an Olympic goal from a corner to put Eldense back in front in the 70th minute. But Cádiz, having shown they had the character to bounce back twice already, struck again. Antoñito Cordero levelled the score after a mazy run from Borja Vázquez, whose shot Ramón Vila parried and, in the rebound, the Jerez winger appeared to make it 2-2.

Eldense left empty-handed, without the victory that would have surely slammed the door shut on their early-season demons, and took a bitter point that feels like small change for a side that was clearly the superior force for large spells of the evening.
