Eibar strung together their third consecutive win and third clean sheet this Sunday, beating Granada 3-0, and knocked the Andalusian side off the top of the table. Ipurúa continues to be kryptonite for the rojiblanco club, and this time the armeros took apart a Granada team that had arrived in form but fell apart in the opening stages. Nothing came off for Granada and they were completely invisible on the pitch against an Eibar that started the match with intensity and quick football looking to feed their strikers, Bautista and Gil. The punishment came quickly. In the 8th minute, a Bautista assist to Iván Gil made it 1-0, and the young Eibar forward rounded off the job with a crack from the edge of the box that left Lizoain with no chance. The visitors tried to react, but their chances came to nothing. The Basque side wanted to settle it at pace and in the 18th minute could have done so through Bautista, but his shot drifted just wide against a Granada that had a decent chance in the 26th minute, but Magunagoitia saved Alemañ's effort with difficulty. The second act of the film also went orange for Ipurúa. Granada's clearest opportunity in the first half came in the 41st minute, when an Alcaraz free-kick went skimming past the post of the home goal, but in the 43rd a Adu Ares run following a Guruzeta pass ended with the second goal for Eibar. It was, in effect, game over. After the restart, the Basque side faced the second half with ease and not until the 53rd minute did they venture dangerously near the rival goal, through Guruzeta. The third came shortly after. 3-0, min.57: Guruzeta. With everything settled, the match became bureaucratic procedure. He sent off Jair Amador with a straight red in the 76th minute for an unnecessary piece of play that simply put the seal on the home side's dominance. Three weeks after kicking off their new project with a painful defeat at Ipurúa, Eibar are celebrating their third straight victory. A victory with a capital V, because it was emphatic, because they achieved it against a Granada defending their top spot and because with those three points it's Eibar themselves who climb to the summit of the table. Granada, despite their fine start to the season, ran into the Ipurúa wall, that barrier that Pacheta has never managed to escape as a manager. Segunda División once again proves that consistency isn't a luxury: it's a requirement.
