Real Valladolid claimed matchday 4 of LaLiga Hypermotion at the Zorrilla with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Andorra, in what was their first home match of the season after more than three months without opening the doors of the Pucela fortress. The blanquivioleta side started with good rhythm and went ahead inside the first quarter of an hour thanks to an own goal from Diego Alende, although with a bittersweet flavour to it: the goal came in the 12th minute following a header from the defender onto a cross from Laurent Lachuer from the left. Thus began the story of a match that would swing from initial euphoria to defensive anguish. Valladolid showed a solid first half but surrendered control and chances to the Pyrenean side in the second period, when they really had to grit their teeth. Carles Manso reorganised his team at the break, introducing defensive changes to switch to a three-centre-back structure, which immediately sparked an Andorran response. Hugo López came close to scoring in the 50th minute after heading in a rebound from a corner, then Moró Sidibé cut one back low for another López header that Aceves saved, and later Golubović hit the woodwork twice attempting headers in the 77th and 81st minutes. Valladolid suffered every minute of those final forty-five, dug in but with clear instructions not to budge. The blanquivioleta fans, who turned out in numbers for this first home game of the season, were a decisive factor in keeping nerves steady on the pitch, though there was an emotional touch too: the crowd observed a minute's applause in tribute to the club's former doctor José María Lomo. In the closing stages came the drama. Mathis Lachuer saw red at the end of the match for scrapping with an opponent, a sending-off that made little difference because Valladolid had already wrapped up a result that Escribá desperately needed after starting the league with alarm bells ringing. It was ugly, it was tight, but those three points are worth their weight in gold.
