Castellón took matchday 7 at Butarque, defeating Leganés 2-0 in a match they completely dominated from start to finish. The visitors reclaimed top spot unbeaten with 19 points, while the home side suffered their first defeat at Butarque without even coming close to a draw. It was a masterclass in solidity, control and clinical finishing from the yellow-and-blacks, who imposed their rhythm from minute one and never took their foot off the gas. Leganés had a warning in the 4th minute when a quick move from Soko found Morata alone, but the Madrid lad fluffed his lines. That could've changed everything, but in Segunda División you have to take those chances, and Morata didn't. Castellón responded with danger of their own, forcing Luca Zidane into action to deny Adam Jakobsen's shot and keep it goalless on the counter. The reward came in the 25th minute when a Zidane howler outside the box allowed Israel Suero to win the ball back and rifle one in from about 30 metres for 0-1. A moment of brilliance and opportunism that basically summed up the superiority Castellón were already exerting on the pitch. In the second half, Jakobsen wrapped it up in the 47th minute with a cracking finish after some slick individual play, and basically put the game to bed before it had properly started. Matthys saved a penalty from Álex Millán in the 85th minute, stopping Leganés from at least making the scoreline look respectable, though lady luck had already abandoned the home side long before. Jeremy Mellot was sent off in the 83rd minute, which turned out to be nothing but a footnote in a match Castellón controlled comfortably despite playing with ten men. Pablo Hernández's side go top, unbeaten, and nicely settled in that comfort zone that only teams who actually know how to play football enjoy. Leganés, stuck in the playoff spots, need to start looking over their shoulder because home defeats like this sting more than they first appear.
