Almería had no trouble dismantling Leganés on matchday nine of LaLiga Hypermotion. A dominant victory at the Estadio Juegos Mediterráneos against a Leganés side that was disjointed from kick-off sealed their sixth consecutive win, and they also maintained their fortress at home: not a single goal conceded on their own patch. Eldense, Cádiz, Celta Fortuna and Burgos had already fallen at the Mediterráneo, and against Leganés, Almería completed a clean sweep of victories in their best-ever home start to a season.
The match was settled before the second half ended. Almería's territorial dominance bore no fruit before the break, but the second half was a completely different story. Leganés had the first real chance with a header from Ignasi Miquel that flew wide from a corner, but in the 51st minute Almería took the lead thanks to a goal from Miguel, who fired first-time across goal, leaving Luca with no time to react. Miguel de la Fuente came off the bench after half-time and settled the tie with goals in the 52nd and 57th minutes.
The double from the Valladolid-born striker carried particular emotional weight: the "ex-player curse" was well-founded, as Miguel had arrived at Almería on loan from Leganés in the January market and the rojiblanco club had sealed his permanent purchase afterwards. In the 52nd, Dzodic robbed the ball on the edge of the area and threaded the pass for him to open the scoring with a well-placed effort; in the 57th, a cross from Cipenga found his head at the near post, he got ahead of the defence and made it 2-0. With the third goal, madness erupted at the Mediterráneo: Almería broke away at pace and Quim left Chirino alone to let the full-back fire home the third, sealing it in the 61st.
Local dominance was almost omnipresent. Miguel, a former Leganés player, bagged the first two goals and Chirino put the icing on the cake in the 61st minute to put Almería level with the leaders, though with a game in hand. García Pimienta had got his half-time substitutions absolutely spot on. Chirino celebrated his first goal in the rojiblanco shirt this season and the defensive solidity of the team ensured another clean sheet.
Leganés came out swinging, but couldn't muster real danger against an overwhelming Almería side that controlled the ball, decided when to attack and when to drop deep. It was, quite simply, a masterclass in superiority with an almost brutal finale for the Madrid outfit: three goals in fifteen minutes that sent the rojiblancos firmly into the promotion play-off race, with another glorious night at home where the Mediterráneo turned into a cauldron of disdain for their visitors.
